Social Media and Teens (October 27, 28 and 30)

This course explores the effects of social media on our minds and brains.  Social media can give an illusion of happiness and success that may be far from reality. The need to look our best, to have it all and comparing ourselves with others constantly, can be both taxing and unhealthy. Yet, social media is inescapable today; so it is imperative that we learn how to navigate it successfully.  In this 3 part series, we look at the pros and cons of social media to understand:

1)      Why we may feel addicted to social media and how we can learn to find a healthy balance through practical coping strategies.

2)      Social Media etiquette’s and how to identify and approach an online threat

3)      How to prevent/cope with online bullying, comparisons and peer pressure on social media.

4)      Privacy and security issues when handling social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat

$54 for 3 classes.  Each class is 45 min long.  Classes held on October 27, 28 and 30 .
